Cemeteries
Southern Geophysical Ltd uses non-invasive geophysical survey methods to provide services for cemeteries. These include locating unmarked graves, establishing the limits of historical cemeteries and assisting with Geographical Information Surveys (GIS) to catalogue known cemetery plots. The methods we use are:
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
- Electromagnetics (EM31 and EM61) and Bartington Magnetic Gradiometer
- GPS
- Magnetic gradiometer
Landfills
The objectives for investigating landfills are normally either delineating the extents of the landfill or quantifying the structure and material properties of the landfill materials. Landfills can be anything from established city council sites to offal pits on farms. Our landfill investigation methods normally include:
- Ground Penetrating Radar (for shallow targets)
- Electromagnetics EM31 and EM61 and Bartington Magnetic Gradiometer
- Shallow seismic reflection
- Resistivity surveys
Fault Mapping
- Seismic reflection (deep or shallow)
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
- MASW
- Refraction tomography
UXO and UST Investigations
Southern Geophysical Ltd has years of experience with successfully locating UXO (unexploded ordnance) and UST (underground storage tanks). The geophysical methods we employ are an environmentally friendly and safe way to look for such buried objects. For these projects, the methods we normally employ are:
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
- Electromagnetics (EM61) and Magnetics (Bartington Magnetic Gradiometer)
- Handheld metal detectors
Vibration Monitoring
We provide a range of vibration monitoring projects for:
- Demolition activity
- Construction activity
- Heavy transportation
- Pile driving
- Dynamic compaction
- Tunnel and subway construction
- Bridge construction/response
- Environmental
Geophysics is a problem solving tool. While these are a few examples of the services we can provide to the environmental sector, there are many other applications, and there are always new methods and approaches being developed. Give us a call at 03 384-4302 info@southerngeophysical.com and we'd be happy to discuss options on whether geophysics is the right tool for you.
